Modern Dance Arts is excited to offer Competition Classes for dancers interested in adding to their weekly technique classes and pursuing that special competitive edge! Competition dancers focus on teamwork as well as individual performance. Competition dancers are challenged to push themselves for competition and strive to gain confidence through the different competitive settings.

Dancers wishing to become a Modern Dance Arts competitive dancer must attend the placement auditions in the spring of each year. Once they have been selected for their competition group, they will participate in a summer intensive to improve their technique and learn skills needed for the competition dances. The summer intensive brings opportunities to learn new styles of dance, work with guest artists, and bond as a competition team. All Competition dancers attend extra rehearsals in the fall and early winter to learn and perfect their routines before competing at local competitions. In addition to performing group dances, dancers will have opportunities to compete with solos, duets, and trios! This will give dancers a chance to build confidence and shine as individual dancers, or in smaller group settings.

Modern Dance Arts Competition teams have consistently earned “overall” high scores and special awards at various competitions. Competitions are a fun and exciting performance opportunity! For more information on our competition programs, please call the studio.
